Baby It's Cold Outside

Well, the weather hasn't been to good for getting out and walking. It's been in the single digits and teens for the last few days. I have been doing some quilting, which keeps me in the basement, away from temptation. And going up and down the stairs to the bathroom is a good way to get exercise.

I've been off the last 3 days as I work shift work. Tomorrow is back to the grind...if you can call it that. I work 12 hour shifts, so I'll work 2 days, and then off 2 days. It rotates around so every other weekend I get an extended weekend.......SWEET!!

It's almost 11PM, and the only good news I have to report is that the Ravens won their first playoff game!!!!!! Let's keep it going!!!! Next weekend is the Colts....we need to kick their butts. But for now, it's off to bed for me. Early to bed, early to rise.........yadda yadda yadda........LOL

A Day in the Life of.............uh

Well, today was the start of the new work schedule. I worked my first 12hr day. Not to bad, considering I usually work a 9hr day. I only added 3 other hours. And the good thing, I'm off the next 2 days - who could ask for more!!!!

Tomorrow is the dreaded trip to the Dentist. I think I have a broken tooth. I'm not looking forward to this at all, but it must be done. Hopefully it won't be too bad, or too painful.

I'm planning on getting some quilting done these next couple of days off. I'm really looking forward to that. I think having all these extra days off due to the new shift will give me more time to do the things I enjoy the most.

Wish me luck tomorrow!!

The Queen's New Year

Well, it's the start of a New Year - 2010. And it's the start of a new me, hopefully. I have roughly 21 months before I hit the big "5-0" and I plan on hitting it in better shape - physically and mentally - than I am now (not that I'm a mental patient or anything).

My first plan, to eat better and get more exercise. I need to cut the weight and gain more energy. This will be the hardest part of the journey, but, I'm prepared to do it. I want to face 50 square in the face and say "ha!! I beat you!!".

The second half of my plan (which should help with the first) is to get things done that I've been putting off. Things like: painting the inside of the house, cleaning the basement storage area, finishing all my unfinished quilts, more gardening, and a whole list of other things I just keep adding to.

And since this year Christmas came.......and went so quickly for me, I'm working on being more prepared for next year. I want to enjoy the season more with my family and friends, instead of running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I proclaim that Christmas presents will be bought and wrapped by the 1st of December. Cards will be ready to mail by the first week of December. The house will be decorated, inside and out, buy the first week of December. I want to coast into Christmas, sipping hot tea, driving around looking at the lights, and enjoying my family and friends company.

So, I've started the Queen's Blog, to keep myself, and anyone else who cares, up to speed on how my life is rolling towards 50. And to all you women in the same boat, grab and oar, it could be a bumpy ride!!
